MORE than a dozen roads will be closed to motorists this Saturday to make way for the Ulverston Lantern Festival.
The town centre of Ulverston and Buxton Place car park will be closed to traffic for at least three hours during the weekend.
From 7am on Saturday morning (16) Buxton Place car park will be closed all day until 10pm. This is so floats used during the parade can be displayed.
The entirety of the town centre will be closed to traffic between 7pm and 10pm on the same day.
Streets within the boundaries of Soutergate, Queen Street, Cavendish Street, County Road, Brewery Street and Fountain Street will be closed.
Police are urging motorists to be patient during the festival, and be mindful of road conditions.
Sergeant Rupert Johnston, of Cumbria Police, said: “There will be a road closure in place for the entire centre of Ulverston between 7pm and 10pm on the September 16 so that the community can enjoy this annual celebration safely."
