FROM livestock and horses, to a fun dog show and children's entertainment - a busy agricultural event is ready to put on an enjoyable day for all the family.

Ulverston and North Lonsdale Show will offer a window on country life and the countryside when it takes place at Longrigg's Farm, Urswick, on Wednesday.

The event falls in the first week of the school holidays and will host a range of attractions, displays, stalls and livestock and horticulture exhibits. Visitors should bring a waterproof and their wellies, as rain is forecast on the day.

Families will be able to meet owls from The Owl Sanctuary and creatures from Little Beasties. Barrow Vintage Motorcycle Club will put on a display of vintage motorcycles and tractors and horses will go against the clock in cone driving contest.

The Greenfinger Folk and Pete and Ged Mosswill will entertain the crowds with a comical Gardeners' Question Time and the South Cumbria Retirement Band will perform

Pooches and their owners will be getting their best trick at the ready for the popular Alice's Dog Show. Entries are taken from 10.30am at the show field and judging starts at noon with Rebecca Sisson of Lakes Animal Physiotherapy.

The show starts with the Pedigree classes, Class One - Puppy (up to 12 months), Class Two - Special Labrador, Class Three - Veteran (seven and over). Then the open to all classes will be, Class Four - Most Appealing Puppy (up to 12 months), Class Five - Best Cross Breed Veteran (seven and over), Class Six - Best Six Legs, Class Seven - Waggiest Tail,Class Eight - Best Trick, Class Nine - Child Handler Seven and Under, Class 10- Child Handler Eight to 16 Years. There will be also be a Best in Show prize, Best Puppy and Best Veteran prizes.

Classes cost £3 for the first class, then it is £1 for all subsequent classes with the same dog.

10:30am Ramsden Square, Barrow, picking up at Coronation Gardens, The White House, The Strawberry and Tudor Square, Dalton and to the show field. 10:30am - The Kiosk, Ulverston to the show field. Both buses will make return journeys at 4.30pm.

Additionally there will be a free shuttle running between The Kiosk, Ulverston and the show field all day from 11.30am.

Parking is free. Ringside parking costs £10. Adult tickets cost £8, children and concessions tickets are £6 (children under five go for free), a family ticket costs £20. Tickets are available at a reduced rate from Ulverston Tourist Information Centre until tomorrow afternoon.
