THERE'S a chance to discover more about the history of iron-making in south Cumbria next month.
The 18th century water-powered blast furnace at Newland, near Ulverston, was used for about 150 years to produce pig iron.
The display will show the history of the furnace and its restoration; information on related industries will also be provided.
Guided tours around the furnace and surrounding hamlet will be provided throughout the day.
The event take place on September 9, from 9.30am until 5pm, and on September 10, from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.
