A UNIQUE auction will be selling off a one-of-a-kind piece in the hope of raising money for a hospice which provides essential care.

Mystery artist LoKi, who has filled the area with unusual graffiti and sculptures, has donated a special piece to Ulverston's St Mary's Hospice which will be auctioned later this month.

The painting has no minimum price and to be in with a chance to own the artwork, you simply need to submit your best offer.

Retail lead at the hospice, Caroline Welch was thrilled with the gift and said: "He’s Ulverston's Banksy.

"It’s brilliant he’s chosen us, he’s unique, his work has brightened up a lot of dull corners in Ulverston."

"He was sensitive about us being a hospice and chose something beautiful to paint, the painting he’s done for us, it’s got real beauty to it."

Mystery Ulverston artist LoKi takes over roundabout once more

LoKi, who has been likened to graffiti specialist Banksy before, first turned heads across the Furness peninsula in 2014 when he scattered a collection of work around Ulverston – beginning with a six-foot painting of a human skull daubed above a doorway in Brewery Street.

He returned this summer with a collection of life-sized modrock figures which have been placed on the main roundabout in Ulverston, reminiscent of the figures left at the same roundabout in September 2015.

Speaking at the time, the artist said: "I'm busy trying to convey through art the unending and fruitless struggle of mankind living in an autonomous democratic society.

"Busy looking on Google for a cool and witty quote written by someone else to pass off as my own in a vain attempt to seem all arty, deep and mysterious."

Anyone interested in the buying the painting must write their name, contact details and their best offer on a piece of paper marked 'Blind Auction' and post it in any of the special post boxes displayed in the charity's shops.
