An Ulverston tri-athlete undertaking an epic challenge for a Furness charity took on his next stage earlier today which passed through Cumbria.

After starting in Lancaster early this morning, Paul Dewar, a landlord from Ulverston, passed through the county today as part of his "To Hell and Back" mission.

Mr Dewar, who was on day four of his challenge, took a short break in Kendal earlier today before heading over Shap North to Penrith.

The likes of Brathay Running were one of several who took to Twitter to wish him well on his travels.

The mission goes on

Mr Dewar is cycling the length of the UK. He started on Monday from Land's End, in Cornwall, and will be making his way up to John O'Groats, in Scotland.

After that, he will be making his way back to Cumbria to swim the length of Windermere, followed by a gruelling ten consecutive marathons in ten days around the same lake.

His efforts are in aid of the Brathay Trust and their new Focus on Furness initiative, which aims to reach out to those living in Barrow and surrounding areas to give them the skills and confidence to progress.

Mr Dewar has already managed to raise £13,161 towards his £16,000 target.
