AN Ulverston sixth former is delighted to have an offer to study at one of the world's oldest and most prestigious universities.
Catriona Fraser, a student at Ulverston Victoria High School Sixth Form, is over the moon with her offer to read English Literature at The University of Oxford.
The 17-year-old, of Ulverston, needs to achieve three A grades in her A-Levels this summer to gain her place.
Catriona, who studies A-Levels in creative writing, English literature, history and biology, said: "It's an amazing opportunity, I'm really excited.
"My family are really proud and happy for me."
The saxophonist who plays in the school's Swing and Wind bands said she had not really considered Oxford until Year 12 when she received her grades and then went on to visit the university.
UVHS teachers were able to assist Catriona with mock interviews before she had three actual interviews at the university.
She said: "The teachers have helped me so much. They encouraged me and made it seem possible.
"This is a really nice school where you build really good relationships with your teachers. The atmosphere and social time is very good."
