AUDIENCES were reduced to fits of giggles as young thespians from a local school took their panto to the Coronation Hall.

Pupils from Ulverston's Victoria High School brought their performance of Three Little Pigs! to the venue this month.

Two shows were put on over the course of a day, a matinee for the town's primary school children, and an evening show for the public.

One of the guiding forces behind the show, music teacher Richard Butler was delighted with how well the performances went.

He said: "It was absolutely brilliant. We had 650 primary school kids laughing for an hour, and in the evening we had a few hundred more there. It went down a storm.

"For Mike Vogler, the school's head of drama, it was his first time (directing a pantomime). He was bowled over by the kids."

There were a few nerves jangling before the performance, but, the lines were delivered without fault. The performers were so confident they even ad-libbed some of the lines.

The students had decided to put their spin on the well-known tale of the Three Little Pigs , complete with pink face paint and handmade snouts.

Mr Butler said: "I was really proud of the students, it was a team effort. They wrote it and they helped direct it as well.

"I'm just really proud of the kids and Mike with it being his first show. Hopefully it will be bigger and better next year."
