The exhibition was officially opened on Tuesday February 2 by Barrow mayor, councillor Ann Thomson, deputy mayor, councillor Anita Husband and mayoress Beryl Garratt.

Among the clubs membership there are a number of professional photographers as well as beginners.

Images displayed - covering a range of subjects, including birds, transport, and people - are a mix of those previously used in regional competitions and some new additions.

Cllr Husband said: "I really liked the wildlife photographs, the one with the owls was just beautiful.
"It's nice to see work from local people being exhibited - it's something I would like to see more of."

Society chairman Eric Braithwaite said: "The club held a competition with the movement theme a couple of years ago, and some photos are from then and some are more recent.

"The last exhibition held at The Forum was in April last year and focused on the Ulverston International Music Festival, but this year's exhibition will be more varied.

"The prints reflect the varied skills and talent of the members."
