A MAN from Ulverston is due in court today accused of storing dangerous chemicals and using them to produce amphetamines.
Emergency services were called to a house in Weston Avenue in the Croftlands estate in Ulverston at around 2pm on Thursday after police discovered a stash of hazardous chemicals.
Police guarded the property for more than 24 hours while a specialist fire crew from Manchester, capable of identifying dangerous chemicals, attempted to recover the substances.
The road was closed for a number of hours and some residents were evacuated temporarily.
Joe Nattrass, 29, of Weston Avenue, Ulverston, was arrested and has now been charged with producing a Class B drug, amphetamine.
Nattrass is due to appear at Furness Magistrates' Court today.
