AN Ulverston man has appeared in court accused of a string of benefit fraud offences covering a period of six years.

Michael Howe, of Lightburn Avenue, indicated a plea of guilty when he appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The 62-year-old is charged with six benefit fraud offences relating to a period of time between 2009 and 2015 when he claimed for Jobseekers' Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Income Support, Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit.

Howe is set to appear at Preston Crown Court for sentencing on August 26.
