AN Ulverston company has linked up with the UK’s leading wood fuel supplier

Lakes Biomass formalised the agreement with Forest Fuels on Tuesday.

It means Lakes Biomass is owned by Forest Fuels, giving it access to Forest Fuels’ expert technical support, specialist systems, and a much wider range of stock.

“This is an extremely exciting partnership for us and for our customers,” said Gemma Turrall, Lakes Biomass’s general manager.

“We have always supplied the highest quality woodchip, but our association with Forest Fuels now means we will have access to even wider range of first-rate fuel along with technical support from their specialists.

"This is great news, as it means we’ve now got a larger network of experienced colleagues that we can call upon at any time to supplement our own expertise."

Prior to the deal, Lakes Biomass supplied its wood pellet customers with bagged pellets only.

But it will now have the facility to provide large commercial customers with ‘blown’ pellets – which are delivered directly into biomass fuel stores from specialist lorries.

The deal will also give Lakes Biomass customers access to Forest Fuels’ automatic monitoring systems, which allows them to monitor fuel-store levels, usage and boilers via their phone, tablet or computer.

“We’re well known locally for our friendliness, flexibility and high levels of service and quality,” added Ms Turrall.

"But this association will allow us to up our game even more.

"We’re now able to offer our customers an unparalleled package that mixes local knowledge with industry-leading systems and exceptional strength in depth.”

Lakes Biomass is based in Ulverston, Cumbria.

It delivers kiln-dried logs, kindling, woodchip, and pellets to domestic and commercial customers throughout the North West of England.

Forest Fuels operates from local depots throughout the country, and the link-up with Lakes Biomass will enable Forest Fuels to expand its ‘local’ model into the Lake District.

Peter Solly, managing director of Forest Fuels said: “Lakes biomass and Forest Fuels complement each other perfectly, as we share the desire to provide the highest-grade wood fuel to our customers.

"We’re looking forward to working closely with the their friendly team and helping their operations become even more comprehensive and efficient."
