A FASHION show will raise money for charities which saved the life of a young woman who was seriously injured after being hit by a car.

The annual Ulverston fashion show, re-named as Fashion, Food and Fizz, will be held at the Coronation Hall tonight.

Money raised will be donated to North West Air Ambulance and Blackpool Cardiac unit, which are being praised for saving the life of 26-year-old Sandy Nevinson.

Miss Nevinson, from Ulverston, was seriously injured when a Peugeot 206 crashed into her on July 7 last year, fatally injuring her cousin, Jessica Quayle.

They had been walking along Mountbarrow Road from Birkrigg Common, towards Ulverston. Miss Nevinson suffered life threatening injuries, and credits the air ambulance service and the staff at Blackpool Hospital for saving her.

The event has been largely organised by Victoria Cash, 36, one of the owners of fashion shop, Pretty Things, in King Street, Ulverston.

Having known Miss Nevinson for a number of years she wanted to do something to help raise money.

As well as items from Pretty Things, the sold-out fashion show will be showcasing the latest trends from Pure in Market Street, Phoebe Fashion in Potters Court, Boudoir Pink in King Street, Rushforths in King Street and Two by Two in Market Street.

As the charity event has now been re-branded, there will also be a number of local food businesses presenting some of Ulverston’s finest food.

Miss Cash said: “We have had a really good response from the community and tickets sold out within a couple of weeks.

“Floral and Hardy donated the centrepieces and Dodds Florists donated flowers for the stage.”

The event also includes an auction, with lots including a bathroom suite from DEL, an overnight stay at the Cranleigh in Bowness, a fitted carpet from Nevinson’s and the town’s Mercedes dealership has donated a sports car for the weekend.

Tickets are now sold out for the fashion show, but anyone who would like to donate cash to the charities can contact Victoria Cash at Pretty Things on 01229 480900.
