On July 25 members of the Ulverston Inner Wheel club gathered for their first meeting of the year, meeting one of the NHS Blood Bikers.

Deputy Northern area manager John Walker was introduced to the group and invited to speak about his role on Cumbria's roads.

Mr Walker told assembled members that himself and more than 150 bikers across the North ferry blood, plasma, breast milk, medical records and more across the region.

Since their inception the bikers have been involved in more than 37,000 call-outs and for their dedication were awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service.
