HUNDREDS of entries have been received in a competition to name a south Cumbrian landmark.
In July the Cumbria Teaching Agency in Ulverston launched an appeal for local residents to help name their new headquarters.
Earlier in 2017 the company took over the former HSBC building in New Market Street.
Determined to give it a fresh lease of life and involve the town in local issues that matter, Tony Martinez, director of the CTA, decided to ask Ulverston to help him rename the building.
After more than 230 names were suggested, Mr Martinez expressed his delight how much the town had taken the idea to heart.
He said: "It's brilliant, I didn't think people would have this much interest. It's good to see that people wanted to be involved, the worst thing would have been to have no response. We're really pleased at the turn out."
Mr Martinez will sift through the hundreds of entries to find a shortlist of five names for the building.
He will announce in the coming weeks what the final shortlist is.
