ONE of the most recognisable and formidable politicians of the past fifty years will be the subject of a special film screening night at an Ulverston museum.

On Wednesday October 11 the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston will host an event dedicated to the fearsome MP Dennis Skinner, or as he is more famously known, the 'Beast of Bolsover'.

A recent documentary on the life and career of Mr Skinner - 'Nature of the Beast' will be shown. It charts the extraordinary life of the firebrand Labour Party stalwart from his humble upbringing as one of nine siblings to sitting in the house of commons.

Uncompromising in his views and with a set of incorruptible principles, Mr Skinner is respected and feared in equal amount by both Labour and Conservative politicians.

Nature of the Beast looks at what lies behind his passion and drive and tracks his rise from a local councillor to today where he is one of Britain's most recognisable politicians

This public screening is organised by the Labour Party's Ulverston and Rural branch. After costs are covered, all proceeds will go to local party funds.

Admission is £5, and the doors open at 7pm.

Advance Tickets can be bought from The Laurel And Hardy Museum at in Brogden Street or by calling 01229 582292. For any further information, contact John Hall, at bifocals2013@gmail.com.
