PRIME minister Theresa May has today made a surprise visit to south Cumbria.
As part of the Conservative local election campaign Mrs May travelled to meet local representatives and candidates at the Oxley Group site, in Ulverston.
The local manufacturer specialised on producing LED lighting, and has over the years supplied some of the biggest companies in the world, including BAE, General Dynamics and Sikorsky.
South Lakeland residents will go to the polls on Thursday (3) with every South Lakeland District Councillor stands for re-election.
This is the first local election since ward boundaries were redrawn in a radical shake up of the authority's wards.
