COUNCIL chiefs in South Lakeland are making provisions to welcome 30 refugees from Syria over the next three years.
The district, which includes Ulverston, will help re-settle ten people from the war-ravaged country each year until 2020.
They will be among 285 individuals, to include vulnerable children and family members, who are set to arrive in Cumbria over the period.

SLDC Leader Councillor Giles Archibald said: "I am delighted that Cumbria’s local authorities have worked together to make this possible.
"I am sure the people of South Lakeland will extend a warm welcome to help these families when they arrive."
Cumbria was due to become home to refugees fleeing the destruction in Syria earlier this year.
But the move was postponed following severe flooding caused by Storm Desmond 12 in December 2015.
