TODAY's leg of a popular music festival saw children take to the stage to enchant audience with some vocal classics.
The day kicked off with some fantastic performances of Disney classes from today's youngest singers.
Children from school years four to nine starred in the morning and afternoon classes and will continue into this morning's stint, along with senior and adult vocals.
The festival's secretary, Sue Cains, said: "We have been very well supported this year and the quality of performance has been very good, with a high number of distinctions being awarded in the solo classes."
Yesterday's adjudicator was opera star Jacqui Edwards who has performed with some of the nation's leading organisations including Opera North and Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
Ms Edwards gave yesterday's competitors lots of encouragement and positive advice on presentation and singing technique.
Audiences heard some delightful singing with a wide range of Folk Song, Disney Tunes, Show songs and 20th century music.
Freya Lupton from Millom received the John F Jennings Shield and Bursary for Young Singers and Kai Nicholas from Millom was awarded the Julie Wills Vocal bursary.
Ms Edwards said: "I enjoyed hearing the young singers throughout the day and getting to know their individuality and enjoyed encouraging this.”
She added: “There’s obviously some good teaching going on and it’s good the parents are so supportive, too.”
The School Choirs classes were held in the evening, and competitors included Chapel Street Infants & Nursery School Choir, Millom Infant School ‘Bluebirds’, Dalton St. Mary’s Singing for Fun Club, St. James C of E School Barrow, Roose County Primary School, Askam Village School Choir, Dalton St. Mary’s Performing Arts Club, and Haverigg School Choir.

contrasting items.
