THE roads near Ulverston are in gridlock as motorists crawl through roadworks.
Drivers have reported long tailbacks of more than 20 minutes in some places as they try to negotiate their way through town.
There are long queues on the A590 backing up from the Quebec Street junction, past the Coronation Hall.
There are also long waits being reported in Lindal due to a one-way system in place to carry out works on the Lindal dip.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, and if using alternative routes, take care as other drivers may have the same idea.
