A SOUTH Lakes school has been forced to delay its start date for the new academic year until Wednesday September 7.
Croftlands Junior School in Oakwood Drive, Ulverston, had been set to reopen on Monday September 5, will now welcome back pupils on Wednesday.
The announcement, which was made by Cumbria County Council, is to ensure that nearby schools start on the same date with Ulverston Victoria High School also set to kick off the new school year on Wednesday September 7.
Despite the changes, Sir John Barrow School in Argyle Street, Ulverston, will still reopen on Monday September 5 along with St Mary's Catholic Primary School and Church Walk Primary School.
