A DAZZLING array of talent was on show in the final of Lakes Got Talent.

The annual talent event showcases the best acts from across Cumbria while raising money for a chosen local charity.

This year singer Faye Bowness won first place with a beautiful rendition of The Prayer.

Judge Emma Preston said: "We have watched you over the years and you have grown up with us. I am really proud of you. You look absolutely stunning as well."

Runner-up Sasha Johnson also impressed judges with her creative dance routine, performed only to a spoken recording of a letter from the First World War.

But these weren't the only finalists to wow the judges.

Singer-songwriter Jack Hayes from Barrow impressed the audience with a raw acoustic performance of one of his own songs.

Judge Ralph Spours said: "I could listen to your music for ever and ever. It was absolutely first class."

Pearl and the Piano, a musical duo from Barrow and Lowick who have been playing together for about six years, were also on fine form.

Judge Jill Newby said:"That made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, it was just beautiful."

Barrow magician Richie Cottam left the judges flabbergasted with his card tricks and floating table act.

A few of the judges' wildcard acts also stood out in the event, at the Coronation Hall, Ulverston.

KD School of Dance from Millom gave an energetic performance in pink sparkly outfits.

Mr Spours said: "That had unbelievable energy. It got us all smiling."

Organiser James Farrow who came up with the idea for the competition was delighted with the outcome.

On the event's Facebook page he posted:"Thank you to everyone who came to watch Lakes Got Talent last night.

"I can't thank you all enough, not only supporting everybody in the show, but supporting the show itself."

This year the competition was in aid of Jo's Appeal, a charity set up by Evening Mail sports editor, Matt Davies in memory of his wife Jo who died of cancer in 2015.

The money raised will go toward's Jo's chosen causes - St Mary's Hospice, the Furness General Hospital oncology unit and the Eve Appeal national women's cancer charity.
