LINDAL pupils are climbing high with their learning thanks to an inspiring new outdoor area.

A climbing wall, outdoor mud kitchen and water wall are just some of the features in the new outdoor learning space at Lindal and Marton Primary School.

The village school successfully won £10,000 through The Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All grants to enhance its early years facilities for creative and imaginative learning through play.

The Friends of LAMPS also arranged events to raise money for new equipment to use in the outdoor area.

The reception and Year One children also have toadstool seating in the story corner, a large wooden wendy house and sandpit area.

The space, created by the company Pentagon, also has a surface of artificial grass and outdoor carpet.

The water wall feature promotes investigative learning. It has a water wheel, which fills a water tipper system.

Fiona Doran, the headteacher of Lindal and Marton Primary School, said: "It's an amazing area and we are so grateful. The children absolutely love it."
