A MAN has been charged with a string of offences following an alleged car jacking and hit and run in south Cumbria.
Police arrested 30-year-old John Burns of Manchester after a manhunt which lasted for four days.
He was today due to appear at Furness Magistrates Court charged with seven different offences.
Police launched a major investigation and search for a man following the incident in Ulverston which left a cyclist fighting for his life.
The 24-year-old remains in a critical condition in hospital with his family by his side.
The collision involved a black VW Polo and happened at the junction of Park Road and Priory Road in Ulverston on July 26.
Helicopter crews were called in as part of the search for the man believed to have been behind the wheel.
A man was eventually arrested on Sunday.
Burns, of Sycamore Road, Manchester, has been charged with dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, robbery, common assault, vehicle interference, aggravated TWOC and fraud.
