MOTORISTS are reporting long delays on the A590 near Lindal this afternoon.

Queues are said to be forming from Lindal to at least the Dalton roundabout in Askam Road.

Traffic lights are in place in Lindal between 9am and 3pm as work takes place to upgrade broadband services in the area.

Why is work taking place?

On Monday (25) traffic lights were installed in Lindal as broadband installation works are carried out.

Long queues have been recorded during the period of work, between 9am and 3pm.

The disruption is reminiscent of the months of delays that caused motoring misery during the work on the Lindal Dip.

A huge engineering project was undertaken to heighten and re-locate the A590 to stop the annual issue of flooding.

The lights will be inplace until Tuesday October 3.

BT, who are carrying out the works, were contacted to find out if the lights will be in operation this weekend.

The Mail is awaiting a response from their North West office.
