One of the highlights of a town's festival calendar is in need of volunteers to help make it the best one yet.

The organisers of the Ulverston Lantern Festival are calling for members of the public to come forward to help steward this year's event.

Four processions will snake their way from the four corners of Ulverston into the centre of town before making there way to the finale at Ford Park.

Because of the housing development at the park, there have been changes made to the ways people can exit the event.

This is why the lantern festival's chair, Chris Nelson, is calling for one last push, he said: "We hugely appreciate the support of the Rotary Club members, and all the other volunteers who step up each year to guarantee the safety of the event, accompany parades and ensure the temporary road closures are respected.

"The closure of the second gateway into Ford Park means our stewards will be more diligent in controlling the final stages of the parade.

"Anyone can volunteer as a steward and we will provide instruction on how they can help. Volunteers can contact me on 07761 930627 or Chief Steward Iain Raven at Boogles and Bump in King Street, or email teamulverston@yahoo.com."
