A FURNESS farmer has denied lighting a fire at the side of a road which led to motorists being injured or endangered.
Farmer and businessman Harold Roland Saunders, of Grizebeck, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court today.
The 78-year-old has been charged with unlawfully lighting a fire on a highway, at a lay-by on the A5092 at Gawthwaite, on May 7. The alleged incident involved a user of the highway being injured or endangered.
Saunders pleaded not guilty by post and is due to stand trial at Furness Magistrates' Court on Wednesday November 23.
