A FLOOD-blighted road outside a primary school is to be targeted by highways bosses.
An excavator from the Highways Agency has been sent to the field opposite Pennington School, near Ulverston, to combat the water runoff which has plagued the road leading to the school.
Councillor Andrew Butcher expressed his delight over the start of work.
He said: "I personally find this one of my happiest days of the year, knowing that children will be able to arrive at school safely without parents worrying about the water and traffic on the narrow roads, trying to avoid the deep water."
