Firefighters called to blaze a Lakeside
FIREFIGHTERS were called to an incident involving a biomass plant near Newby Bridge.
An alarm was raised at 15.28 this afternoon following reports of a fire at a biomass plant building around 100m from the Lakeside Hotel.
Ulverston and Grange fire crews arrived to find a five-metre by 10-metre single-story building ablaze and smoke coming from the premises.
Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used two main jets to bring the blaze under control.
Crews are now ventilating the premises using a high pressure fan, and a hose reel jet was used to damp down the area.
No casualties have been reported.
