THE newest hotel in Ulverston is set to officially open its doors later this week.

The Premier Inn, on North Lonsdale Road, Ulverston, will open to guests on Friday January 26 after a £5m development.

Sam Grieve, operations manager, said the hotel was ready for its big launch.

She said: "The preparations have been fantastic and we're on track and ready for Friday.

"We've just got a couple of bits to do in the rooms and then we're good to go. The team are almost fully trained and that's it.

"The public are already enquiring and we're just waiting to get all of our bookings in."

Rooms at the hotel start at £30, depending on availability and how far in advance they're booked.

Ms Grieve said the new hotel offered something different to the town.

She said: "It's a branded hotel and restaurant and there isn't something like that here. I think the closest is in Barrow.

"We're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we've got a nice big hotel with some pretty views.

As well as the 80-seat Thyme restaurant and bar, lead by head chef Daniel Howlieson, the 79-bedroom hotel is accessible for everyone.

Ms Grieve said: "We've got different room types, including our family rooms for two adults and two children, and our universally accessible rooms with baths and wetrooms.

"We've got our standard double rooms, some with baths and some with showers.

"We've got quite a lot of connected family rooms too, so there's quite a wide variety and there's something for everyone."

Earlier this month, staff at the new hotel showed their commitment to the town with a litter pick on the banks of the nearby canal.

Ms Grieve said: "We've got a big team of 30 people around the hotel and we've got self-check in machines which, more than anything, are to make checking-in easier, especially our business guests pre-paying.

"We'll still have a full team ready to help."
