A MEETING will be held tonight for flood-hit residents in Ulverston who want answers over how they will be protected.

A representative from the Environment Agency will visit the Coronation Hall in Ulverston to address the flooding issues in the east of the town.

Last year a spell of torrential rain broke Dragley beck within an hour, resulting in water lapping at the doors of homes.

By the end of 2017, the EA, in partnership with the County Council and other national and local organisations hopes to drastically improve Ulverston's resilience.

The latest step in the town's flood alleviation scheme will begin next week in Buxton Place car park.

The meeting will open at 5.30pm tonight, and should last until 7pm.
