Nursery supervisor Janet Clark said they were over the moon to receive the money and were looking forward to buying the over-sized instrument.

Broughton Under Fives is a charity that provides care and facilities for children from birth to school age.

It is managed by a committee of enthusiastic volunteers and all parents are welcome to join them. Their baby and toddler group runs every Wednesday and Friday morning in Victory Hall.

Mrs Clark added: "We are very grateful to the Evening Mail for this donation. We are going to buy a big xylophone for use outside for the children in the play are. They enjoy using a hammer banging on the posts so I'm sure they will enjoy making a lot of noise with this."
