The 18-year-old will be performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the BBC Ten Pieces Prom on July 23.

The BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist and woodwind final winner will be performing the “Song of Home” from “Island Songs” by Peter Sculthorpe.

The former Ulverston Victoria High School student was also invited to perform at the Proms Launch at the BBC Radio Theatre for the BBC Proms launch film.

The musician said: "I feel very honoured to have been invited to perform at the BBC Proms. It is such a well respected and world renowned event and I am unbelievably excited about being a part of it.

"It has always been a dream of mine to perform at the Royal Albert Hall and I never expected to be fulfilling that ambition so early on in my career.

"I’m a little nervous about performing in such a huge venue but the Proms are known for the festive, welcoming atmosphere so I am really looking forward to the performances."

Jess studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music and has now entered the Royal Northern College of Music with an Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music scholarship.

The performer has a busy schedule this year. It is taking her around the UK, including a performance with the Southbank Sinfonia at London’s Barbican Centre. Jess will perform an extract from Michael Nyman’s “Where the Bee Dances”.

The musician has a number of performances at Ulverston International Music Festival in June at The Coronation Hall.

On June 11 she has a recital at the festival and on June 12 she has the Family Concert.
