AN Ulverston couple are set to go on a dream holiday to celebrate their silver anniversary thanks to an Evening Mail competition.
Julie Quinn and husband Terence have won a Temples and Tavernas Ocean Village Cruise courtesy of Ulverston’s Gates Travel.
Mrs Quinn received the good news on Friday, just days after chatting to her husband about going on a cruise to celebrate their anniversary.
She won the holiday after collecting 12 out of 14 tokens to enter the Evening Mail prize draw .
The pair, of Lime Tree Road, will board the luxury liner in Heraklion, in Crete, before stopping at Dubrovnik, Corfu, Cephalonia, Katakolon and Athens – where they will mark their anniversary on September 10.
Mrs Quinn, 52, whose husband works at BAE Systems in Barrow, said the competition was a dream come true.
“We’d talked about going on a cruise for our anniversary so it’s fantastic that we’ve won one over the exact date we got married. We’ve never been to the destinations the ship calls in at before – it will be the holiday of a lifetime.”
The competition prize is the second Mrs Quinn has won thanks to the Evening Mail.
She also enjoyed a pamper day at a beauty salon in Barrow in 2006 after her name was drawn from hundreds of entries.
Mrs Quinn said: “My husband told me to get a lottery ticket, we must be on a lucky streak.”
Staff at Gates Travel, in Market Street, were delighted to meet the mother of two – and advised her to take along her marriage certificate to present to the ship’s staff.
Branch manager Denise Wiles said: “It’s wonderful that Mr and Mrs Quinn will be away while they celebrate their anniversary. It’s a fantastic cruise which we are absolutely sure they will enjoy.”
