STRONG audiences locally have been enjoying the latest installment in the Star Wars saga, as the Force Awakens continues to break records.

It has become the fastest film to make $1 bn (£674m) at cinemas across the world.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK Eddie Hartshorn, duty manager at The Roxy in Ulverston. JOE RILEY At The Roxy, staff have reported their biggest recent audiences for the much-anticipated blockbuster.

The Ulverston cinema had a midnight screening on the opening night, attracting its largest audience of 111.

In the following days, the film continued to bring in around 100 people to the venue, which has more than 300 seats.

Eddie Hartshorn, a duty manager at The Roxy, said: "It's not been a sell out, but we've had about 100 people each show.

"On a regular showing, you're looking at less than 50. Sometimes we're down as low as 30.

"So it was definitely double, treble what we get normally. Among all the Charles Morris cinemas, and he's got six, we've been the best of the lot here in Ulverston.

"The other big one for us recently was Bond.

"But we seem to have one blockbuster a year, usually around this time of year."

Asked how the film has been received by audiences, Mr Hartshorn said: "The feedback has all been good. They've all enjoyed it and we've had them clapping at the end."
