Marcus Dixon, 39, was found dead at his home in Maple Street, Barrow, at around 8.30pm on Thursday. Officers were called out amid reports that a man had died and attended the street and located his body.

They cordoned off the area while crime scene investigators examined the scene and gathered evidence. Police launched an
investigation and were initially treating Mr Dixon’s death as unexplained.

The house was cordoned off and a police presence remained on Friday morning.

However, on Saturday, Barrow CID confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr
Dixon, who is understood to be a father of two.

A spokesman for Barrow police said: “A full investigation was commenced regarding the circumstances of Mr Dixon’s death.

“A Home Office post mortem was carried out on November 10 2012 and the death is not being treated as suspicious. No further details are being released at this time.”

Mr Dixon’s family have been informed of the death and friends have been paying tribute to him online.

Sophia McPeake wrote on the Evening Mail’s website: “A great loss for so many people. A truly decent good person who adored his two boys. Now you can be at peace.”

Another poster using the name Jay said: “Really sad news. A great loss for all. Much love to all of his friends and family.

“A good lad, known and thought highly of by everyone I know without exception.”

Mark and Donna Crawford posted on Facebook: “Oh my God, I can’t believe what I am reading. Rip Marcus T Dixon.

“Thinking of all your family at this very sad time and your little boys too, so very sad.”

Have your say

Just thinking of you the other day mate while out on a run - was hoping to catch up when back in the UK at Christmas. Much love to your family at this difficult time. There will be no shortage of people to tell your boys what a great bloke you were. Rest in peace, Marcus.
