THE father of a young Millom dad found dead in his home has said his passing will leave a huge hole in his family’s life.
Peter Hewson spoke out as police said they were not treating the sudden death of Michael Hewson as suspicious.
The 26-year-old, who worked at Kimberly-Clark in Barrow, was found at his home in School Terrace, Millom, on Friday morning.
An ambulance was called but paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Mr Hewson, speaking to the Evening Mail, said: “Michael was loved immensely by all his family, and will leave a huge hole in all our lives, but will live forever in our hearts.
“We appreciate all the messages that have been received, at our loss of Michael, and take great comfort from them.”
Mr Hewson grew up in Dalton and attended George Romney School and Dowdales School.
He had a one-year-old daughter, from a previous relationship.
Mr Hewson, known to many as ‘Spud’, was engaged to his partner Sharon Miller, with who he shared his School Terrace home.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to School Terrace, Millom, at 8.50am on Friday, after the North West Ambulance Service alerted officers to a man who had been found dead in a property.
“Police will make enquiries into the cause of death, which at this stage is not being treated as suspicious but unexplained.
“Officers will work to confirm the identification of the person and support the family.”
Many of Mr Hewson’s school friends took to Facebook to pay tribute.
Claire Devitt said: “Taken too early, thoughts are with your family an fiancee.”
Stacey Poddington wrote: “R.I.P Mike sleep well ur with the angels now, u were taken away 2 young.”
The coroner has been informed.
