A TRAIN hit a cow on a main Cumbria rail line and caused disruption for passengers.
The incident happened on the line at Oxenholme yesterday, and other trains were subject to minor delays for 30 minutes.
A spokeswoman for Virgin Trains said the 6.52am service from Edinburgh to London Euston struck the animal in the Milnthorpe area.
There was no significant damage to the train, however the train will terminate at Birmingham New Street due to safety checks made earlier.
The lines at Oxenholme were reopened by 10.57am yesterday.
