Thug broke jaw of man in nightclub

A CLUBBER who broke a man’s jaw in a late-night bust-up has been jailed for two and a half years.
Paul Henry had a problem with the “red mist,” Preston Crown Court heard. He claimed at the trial that his victim had pushed him on the arm, making him stumble inside Kavanagh’s nightclub in Cornwallis Street, Barrow, on August 20 last year. This resulted in him lashing out in self defence, he said.
But Henry, 26, of Low White Close, Barrow, was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Matthew Parkes.
Henry had previous convictions for violence, relating to offences he committed last September.
He had pleaded guilty to two further counts of common assault on young women, plus intimidation against his former partner, Antonia McGuire
Mr Chris Diamond, defending, said the nightclub assault had been a spontaneous act.
The assault on the two women at the party happened after he tried to intervene in a squabble or fight between females.
Judge Pamela Badley said of Henry: “He clearly has a problem with the red mist rising.”
