POLICE are asking the public to shop motorists who get carried away with the Christmas spirits and put lives at risk by drinking and driving
Thames Valley Police are involved in a Christmas crackdown on those who persistently drink and drive and those who phone in and shop offenders could receive a reward between £120 and £500 from Crimestoppers.
They are urging any publican, workmate, friend or neighbour to stop anyone drinking and driving or shop them to the police.
Paul Anthem, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said that the money would not come from taxpayers but from Crimestoppers, who are a charity they work alongside.
The scheme will particularly target those who persistently drink and drive.
Inspector Dave Hartin, head of the Roads Policing and Intelligence and Operations Unit, said: "Drinking and driving kills. We must get the message through to the comparatively small percentage of irresponsible people who are selfish enough not to care whose lives they wreck."
Police are asking anyone with information to dial 999.
