Spike in Barrow deaths

A SIGNIFICANT increase in the money that Barrow Council has made from Barrow cemetery is due to an unexplained spike in deaths, it has been reported.
The council’s income from the cemetery for the first quarter of the financial year was £220,000. At this point last year, the council had made only £167,000.
At a meeting of the executive committee, Councillor Ray Guselli asked if the 31 per cent increase was due to people from outside the area coming to use the services.
But executive director Phil Huck replied: “It’s just a spike in the numbers; a bit of an aberration.”
