‘Smoke shop’ to be opened in South Lakes

A CAMPAIGNER plans to open a pro-smoking shop in Cumbria to support his bid to get the law changed.

Have your say

If smoking is that bad for us then ban it along with everything else. Strangely poison is not only sold but given out on prescription to patients on the NHS Smokefree brigade. Yes of course nicotine isn't the prime killer here but don't give with one hand and take away with the other.

Martin: Fair point.

Mike,
Sorry, "the single greatest cause of preventable death globally" is war (and intolerance, which is what non-smokers seem to have of smokers).

WilliamT- There was no need for the comments on my english skills. Its not my fault im dyslexic and i am very hurt are the comments. Yeh, you can disagree with my smoking but picking fun at someone for a disability they have is a different story. Bullys like you are the reason people smoke, to destress and stop worry. just because i have a english problem, why does this mean i cant get a degree. Just means i have to try extra hard, so id appreciate it if you stop poking fun and get a life!

WilliamT: I see, so when you are faced with fact after fact you decide to call it rantings? Very mature, perhaps you should grow up or keep out of adult conversations that are obviously beyond ability to understand.

It is clear from the rantings of Mike, RTW et al. that no sense will come from these quarters. The important thing is that the majority keeps up the pressure for further restrictions on smoking.

When it comes down to non-smokers making ridiculous comments claiming smoking is the main source of cancer diagnosis your opinion is flawed from the start. Cancer unfortunately is a terrible disease that has affected many members of my family who don't smoke and to try and imply that smoking is a burden to the NHS is incorrect. Drinking is the main hindrance to our NHS however the government make so much money from both smoking and drinking it would be skint without it. If these 2 things are so bad why is it not outlawed?

Posted by RTW on 11 January 2012 at 10:47

No, Mike, I will not tell you you're wrong. You certainly could say the same. Not that I would, of course.

When it comes down to it, and ignoring all the daft things written by the deluded smokers, the smoking restrictions will not be reversed, and the 'shop' will likely not open or will soon close. All the majority have to do is ensure that further restrictions on smokers are not delayed by this inept publicity.
