Small cast in big Millom production
Last updated at 16:15, Tuesday, 22 January 2013
WITH hundreds of hours spent making the costumes alone, everyone involved with this year’s Millom Amateur Operatic Society panto is raring to go.
Audiences will be treated to the 100-strong team’s performances of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs this week – starting tonight.
Neil Sharpe, vice president of Millom Amateur Operatic Society, said this year’s show included the largest children’s cast he can remember, with more than 40 involved.
He said: “We started rehearsing in October and it’s been a steep learning curve.
“Virtually everyone is doing something new. It’s the largest children’s cast I can remember, and the majority of them have never performed before.
“Everybody has mucked in and talked through any potential problems before they become actual problems.
“It’s the most enthusiastic cast I’ve seen in a long time. They’ve all enjoyed it and have helped each other out.”
Society members raised £200 towards the show’s wardrobe department, which features more than 100 costumes and has taken the tight-knit team of costume designers hundreds of hours to create.
The show runs from tonight until Saturday, at Millom’s Palladium Theatre, in St George’s Road.
Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4.50 for concessions and children, and are available from Millom Library or the council offices in St George’s Road.
