Roadworks set to cause delays on A590

DELAYS are forecast along the A590 next week due to roadworks.

The work is being carried out along the road, between Dalton and Ulverston, to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding.

The maintenance is expected to cost £300,000 and will be carried out over night and at off-peak times.

Lane closures will be in place along portions of the road and staffed temporary traffic lights will be used to manage traffic flow. Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said: “This is an important project to reduce incidents of flooding which have caused delays to drivers in recent years.

“We have timed the work to ensure it takes place overnight or during off-peak hours during the day when traffic volumes are at their lowest.”

The work starts on Monday and is to be finished the following Sunday.
