POLICE are supporting the family of a missing Barrow man who is believed to have been found dead on Friday.
Lewis Antoniou went missing on September 28 following a party in Jason Street, Barrow.
The 24-year-old worked as a graduate at BAE Systems, in Barrow, and a large scale search took place following his disappearance.
On Friday a body was found in water in the Avon Street area of Walney.
Police said formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Mr Antoniou posted on a website set up to help the search for the 24-year-old on Sunday.
A statement posted on the family’s website said: “Well, it seems that this very sad story does, after all, have an ending.
“On Friday afternoon, Lewis was found on the shore of Walney Island, not far from where he was known to have disappeared.”
Police said family liaison officers are working to support the Antoniou family.
