Police release CCTV of alleged Cumbria shoplifting

Cumbria police are appealing for help from the public in their attempts to catch a shoplifter.

Police are looking to speak to an unknown man who stole a bottle of vodka and a packet of cigarettes from the Greens Off License on Botchergate, Carlisle.

The incident occurred on Tuesday December 17 2013 between 10.20pm and 10.30pm.

The unknown man entered the shop and went to till to pay for the items. Whilst the items were placed in a carrier bag he distracted the employee by getting him to turn around and then reached over and took the carrier bag before running out of the shop without paying.

Anyone with information into this incident or recognises the person on the CCTV footage is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to PC Sam Johnson.
