Police hunt Barrow station bike thief

BRITISH transport police are appealing to the public to help identify a bolt-cropping bike thief.

CCTV has been released after a bike theft at Barrow railway station on Friday June 22, when a man used bolt croppers to cut through the lock of a bike shortly after 11.30am.

Although the 44-year-old owner of the bike owner from Barrow left his cycle securely locked in the security area, he fell victim to the thief.

PC Adam Heslop said: “Sadly there is a criminal minority which seems to think it is acceptable to steal the property of others and profit from this.

“It is not acceptable and I will do everything in my power to locate the cycle, return it to its rightful owner, and bring the thief to justice.”

After cutting through the lock, the thief rode away on the Giant Revel 0 bike, worth £500.

l If you recognise this man (right) or have any relevant information regarding the inquiry, please ring the BTP on 0800 405 040, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
