Nursery children enjoy Barrow Park’s festive wonderland

A WINTER wonderland awaited tots from a Barrow nursery after they helped to create a special display in a local park.

The pre-school youngsters from Lynwood Day Nursery, in Newbarns Court, visited the glass house at Barrow Park to view their handmade baubles.

They soaked up the festive atmosphere in the large greenhouse which will remain open to the public throughout the Christmas season.

Keith Shereston, who co-owns the nursery with wife Diane, said the three and four-year-olds had loved it.

He said: “They were really excited to see their baubles hanging in the display. It was beautiful and they were delighted to have been able to take part, particularly as there was a model of Father Christmas and his reindeer on site.”

The children were given polystyrene baubles to decorate for the annual Barrow Park Christmas display last month.

They painted them and covered them in glitter before they were added to the Christmas tree by park staff.

Mr Shereston said: “We have nearly 30 pre-school children and all took part in decorating these baubles.

“Then a smaller group travelled to Barrow Park to have a look at their handiwork.

“It was a lovely experience for them, they’ve really enjoyed every part of it.”
