Morecambe Bay health trust sets patient records target
Published at 15:48, Friday, 15 February 2013
THE organisation which runs Furness General Hospital is aiming to have 80 per cent of its patient records available via computer within the next 18 months.
The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is working to improve its case note management in order to make sure doctors and nurses can access people’s information at the touch of a screen.
UHMBT chief executive Jackie Daniel said: “The efficient and effective management of patient records is crucial to the delivery of safe, high standards of care for any high performing NHS hospital.
“Delayed appointments for patients due to lack of record availability is not good enough.”
UHMBT holds between 750,000 and 1,000,000 paper records across its three main sites but is aiming to transfer notes to an electronic system.
