Money worries led to Barrow man taking his own life

A BARROW chef took his own life because he was being “hounded” for money that he owed, an inquest has heard.

Jason Baines

The body of Jason Baines, 42, of Duke Street, Barrow was discovered at the rear of the Sandgate Pub in Salthouse Road on Friday October 18.

An inquest held at Barrow Town Hall this morning heard that he hanged himself from scaffolding just days after starting a new job in the kitchen of the Tally Ho pub in Schneider Road.

South and East Cumbria coroner, Mr Ian Smith said: “It seems to be the case that the reason for him doing what he did was two things that ran together.

“The first was that he was being hounded for money, the second thing was he was confronted by his girlfriend about that.

“I have to record a verdict that Jason Lee Baines killed himself.”

What kind of world do we live in where we have people killing themselves because the government are putting middle and lower class citizens in positions like this. Absolutely disgusting
