TAYLOR was delighted with the efforts of Watford's Ed Coan and the League Manager's Association who arranged the special dinner at Watford to mark his 1,000th game.
He said: "I have known very little about it. You have to be proud doing 1,000 games because it means, somewhere along the line, you must have brought something to the game and enjoyed a degree of success.
"I had the best part of four seasons on the international scene, so I could have reached the total sooner. I believe some time next season Dario Gradi will join us.
"Look at what Cloughie achieved. They were absolutely fantastic achievements. Jim Smith has done it with a number of clubs and look what Dario has done for Crewe. You can't compare them, only admire each achievement in their own right."
Taylor had cause to reflect on the milestone again when Ross Jenkins called in from Spain to take in the Fulham game.
He said: "All I have really wanted for players, who are not going to be a football player for the rest of their life, is to have as many good times as you can and have as many laughs and look back with fond memories.
"With Ross turning up, that was the case.
"It is good to meet people later on and know you have a played a part in their life and they are appreciate it. You cannot ask for more."
